Old Hickory Lake Guide Service Fishing Report- 03/23/2014
Posted by ian on March 23, 2014
This report is for last week. The weather over the last week has really had a huge impact on the fishing and for once it’s positive. For the first time this spring we have had several warm days in row that has helped warm the water up and really improve the fishing. Water temps on the main river are hanging right around 50 with the creeks being quite a bit warmer in and around the mid 50s. This has seemed to jump start the fish and get them actively feeding. Our numbers are really good right now with the quality improving as well. I fished a tournament yesterday, 03/22/2014, and we caught over 25 fish throughout the day with 3 fish over 3lbs.
Hopefully this cold front that’s pushing thru early this week wont have to much of a negative impact on the fish. Cold fronts this time of year have the biggest impact on the fish then any other time during the year. With that being said look for fish to pull back some with the approaching front but to quickly return after a day or two of stable weather.
We have been catching the majority of our fish on main lake points and secondary points in creeks. All spots that we are catching fish at have one thing in common and that deep water close. Our best baits have been a suspending jerkbait, shakey head worm, crankbaits and A-Rig’s.
Here at OHGS we use brand new high grade fishing equipment fron Denali Rods, Lews reels, Sunline fishing line, Santone Jigs and other top of the line equipment. I am a United States Coast Guard licensed captain and 100% dedicated to making your trip the trip of a lifetime.
I still have a couple days left in March and April so call today to get that spring trip book!!!
